TRICE OFFICIALLY CROWNED GTA CHAMPION
Toby Trice was officially crowned the inaugural Ginetta GT Academy champion last weekend at Ginetta's end of season awards presentation.
Despite the relative lack of testing compared to some of his other competitors, Trice had a great season, winning five out of the 15 races this year, and won the championship having secured 395 points, 58 points more than Roy Alderslade in second.
Trice was officically crowned champion of the GT Academy at last weekend's end of season awards dinner and speaking afterwards he reiterated that he still can't quite believe he has secured his first championship title.
"It's a huge privilege just to compete in this sport," said Trice.
"I've worked so hard over the last year with all my sponsors to attract a budget, just to even get on the track. So I feel very fortunate just to even be able to race and have an amazing time with my sponsors.
"But after all of that, and with very limited testing, to then be crowned champion feels utterly incredible.
"I am so grateful for everyone that's involved.
"SVG Motorsport has put an incredible car together, super-grateful for all the hard work they have put in to make this possible.
"I am very much a small cog in this entire machine. There are so many people to thank. Momentum Social, PurpleTasche who do all the branding, Jess at Racing Mentor helping me attract the sponsorship to achieve this budget and to my loyal partners who have jumped onboard and had a season with me.
"Railscape, Logixx, Carter's Transport, it's just a huge privilege and I am so thankful for all those people.
"The very first champion in GT Academy is amazing. Writing history in Ginetta's books is something that only a few years ago I'd have just dreamed of even being in a G56 GT car, so I am super-grateful, super happy and I can't wait to see what's next.
